Selfscope

Cookie Policy

Last updated: November 7, 2026

This page lists the cookies and similar storage that Selfscope uses, who sets them, why and for how long. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data in general.

Your choice

If you're in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a notice asks whether we may use Meta and X cookies to measure our ads. Nothing from Meta or X loads until you tap “Allow”, and the site works the same if you tap “No thanks”. Elsewhere, including the US, Meta and X measurement is on unless you turn it off with the “Do not sell or share my info” link at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a “no” everywhere. You can change your answer at any time with that link or with “Cookie settings”.

Strictly necessary

These keep the site working and don't need your consent. Selfscope stores them in your browser's local storage, not as cookies; they stay until you sign out, finish the test or clear your browser data.

Statistics

We record visits and test steps ourselves, on our own server, to see where people get stuck and which ads bring visitors. To connect the steps of one visit, the site keeps a random ID in your browser's local storage (ss.vid); nothing is shared with other companies, and it doesn't follow you across other sites. We also count page views with Umami, which runs on our own server and uses no cookies.

You can turn this off on this device: . A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser turns it off too.

Advertising (Meta and X measurement)

NameSet byWhat it doesKept for
_fbpMetaRecognizes your browser so Meta can tell us which ads led to a visit90 days
_fbcMetaStores the click ID of the Meta ad you followed90 days
_twclid, muc_ads, personalization_idX (Twitter)Tell X which of its ads led to a visit, a sign-up or a purchaseUp to 13 months

When Meta measurement is on for you, we also send Meta the same events from our server (Conversions API): that you left your email, started a trial or paid, with your email address in hashed form. You can also manage ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account, and opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at optout.aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).

Managing storage in your browser

You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you clear Selfscope's local storage, you'll be signed out and unfinished test progress will be lost.
